Nashville Home Sales up 15.9% in September

Home sales in the Nashville area were up 15.9 percent in September compared to a year ago, according to the Greater Nashville Association of Realtors.
There were 2,626 home closings reported for the month, up from 2,266 a year prior.

Abandoned retail strip shopping centers and other existing non-residential properties around Nashville represent opportunities for redevelopment to meet future demand for new space, one of the nation’s top urban planning experts said here Wednesday.
“In my view, the future is the redevelopment of existing commercial corridors and you know how to do it,” said Arthur C. Nelson, a professor of city and metropolitan planning and executive director of the Metropolitan Research Center at the University of Utah.
