The first renderings released Monday of the Virgin Hotels Nashville planned on Music Row show two adjourning buildings connected by a glass walkway.
One tower will rise 19 stories and include 15 for-sale penthouse units at the top and also a recording studio, according to the images from the lifestyle hotel brand by billionaire British entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson. The 16-story section will include 240 hotel rooms; The Commons Club, a hybrid bar/longue, laid back study and restaurant designed to have the feel of a membership club but without the fees, an entertainment venue and a veranda with views of the city.
Miami-based Virgin Hotels will operate the boutique hotel that’s expected to open in fall 2016 for CK Global LLC, the development entity led by Nashville construction executive Dean Chase that will own that Virgin Hotels Nashville. General contractor D.F. Chase Inc. is expected to start construction this spring on the site located at the southwest side of Musica statue at the Roundabout.
“It’s going to be successful not because it’s a Virgin (Hotels) brand, which hasn’t matured yet,” Nashville hotel industry consultant Drew Dimond said about what will be only the second US Virgin hotel after the new Virgin Hotels Chicago. “But it would be successful because it’s a boutique that’s going to have a terrific location close to shopping, dining and entertainment options.”
Atlanta-based BLUR Workshop is the architect for the Virgin Hotels Nashville project. New York design-consulting firm MARKZEFF is the interior designer.
The design also features retail space. Residents of the penthouses and patrons of the recording studio will have access without going through the hotel lobby.
Michael Cronin of Nashville-based Michael Cronin Acoustic Construction will design the recording studio. A rooftop pool with an evolving food concept, a gym and wellness center for hotel guests and 14,000-square-feet of meeting space for events are among other features of Virgin Hotels Nashville’s design.
